Day 2 was "a piece of cake"

I stuck to the Shakes today. That was the easy part.
This morning I had my Shake with Orange juice, fresh banana and fresh strawberry.

This evening I had my shake with sugar free lemon pudding mix and butter extract....mmmm...birthday cake!!

The issue I faced today was that I did not have any sleep. I slept Sunday for 3 hours only. This is NOT a good thing :oS
It is imperative that your body gets sleep for the weight loss process to be successful.
Also, I did not drink nearly enough water.

That's ok. It's one day out of millions :o)
Tomorrow will be better.

And I believe tomorrow will be another "birthday cake" day!

Remember me?

It's been a very long time since I have posted on my blog. I have been posting often on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/visalus2) and Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/sheilabodybyvi).

Today, I "officially" started my 90 Day Challenge (Sheila's 90-Day Challenge http://t.co/6fPKK6XU52). I entered for the first time ever for my chance to win amazing prizes!! I have been going to the gym and working out HARD with a trainer a minimum of three times per week and have been drinking my two Shakes per day. I feel AMAZING...AND....AND...I am losing weight!

Follow me and watch my transformation. Better yet, join me!

Trying New Recipes Today

Coconut Vi-Shape Crusted Chicken:
2 eggs beaten
2 scoops Vi-Shape shake mix
3/4 c. unsweetened coconut

Dip the chicken in the eggs and then into the dry shake/coconut mix.
Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

This is crispy, but would be much better on shrimp :) The sweetness in the shake makes the coconut taste like it is sweetened coconut. It might be a little too sweet for my liking...

Day 2 was disgusting AND delicious!

Day 2 of my Challenge was a lot more successful than Day 1. I had my shakes and snacks at decent times and made sure to drink water during the day.

My first shake was absolutely delicious:
- Orange Juice, strawberries, bananas and Vi-Shake

This afternoon, however, was a different story. I wanted to make an Apple Cobbler Shake but I forgot my apple and my recipe. So I improvised. I used a Peach Mix In and it was kind of gross to be frank. I love the Peach Mix In on its own as a cold drink. It was just WAY too sweet for the Shake I tried:
- 5 oz milk of your choice (I use Almond Milk)
- 5 oz boiled water
- Peach mix in
- 2-3 tbsp oatmeal
- Caramel drizzle

After that massacre, I totally redeemed myself! I had chocolate cake in the evening!! That’s right! Chocolate cake!! Vi-cake! It was delicious!

LOVING this goal!!!

Well, well, well…where to start? I finished my last 90 Day Challenge and took the “after” video. It’s an improvement for sure, but I had difficulty uploading it…again. (The “before” video took several weeks/attempts to upload.) I am contemplating taking another video as it’s been really cold here lately and also the day I took the video and I get asthma attacks in the cold. So, even though you will see an improvement, I did feel my lungs starting to feel tight. Either way…”after” video is coming soon.

Today I started my next 90 Day Challenge. While I set new goals each Challenge, this one is going to be different. This time I am combining 4 Challenges. You see, my 40th birthday is next year…just over 4 Challenges away. I am one of these rare people who LOVE getting older and I cannot wait to turn 40!!! I want to have a huge celebration and want to be in the best shape I’ve ever been in. That is why this time I am combining my Challenges and have committed that I WILL lose 100 pounds by my 40th birthday. I am so totally stoked about this!

I will keep you posted with updates and in keeping with my honest and open updates will tell you that I bombed Day 1. I know, I know. That doesn’t sound promising. Oh…I did the shakes! I just didn’t have ANYTHING to eat for the first 9 hours that I was awake. I also barely drank anything all day. So, while I did stick to the Challenge, I really didn’t do it in a healthy way. Tomorrow is another day!

A pie in the sky?

While I do so love the simplicity of the ViSalus Shakes (in that you need only add liquid and shake them), I am enjoying trying more elaborate recipes.

Yesterday I made an Apple Pie recipe. It was quite good! It was not as sweet as I imagined. That’s a good thing though. I was afraid it would be too sweet to enjoy. It was just sweet enough to take away my sweet tooth craving….for the ENTIRE day!

Apple Pie Recipe:
1 small apple cored and sliced
1 graham cracker
8 oz almond milk
2 scoops Vi Shake
1 tsp vanilla
Shake in cinnamon

Don't have a blender?? Substitute the apple for 1 c. unsweetened apple sauce and substitute the graham cracker for graham cracker crumbs (or skip the cracker altogether).

Trying Some New Things

I absolutely LOVE ViSalus…both their business (and the way they treat us and their customers) and their products. Another thing I love…there is SO MUCH you can do with a Shake that you can’t possible get sick of the flavour.

Now…I am one who could probably drink the Creamsicle Popsicle (orange juice mixed with the Vi Shake) every day and not be sick of it. However, for 2013 I have decided to make new Shakes and provide feedback. Keep in mind that I am an extremely picky eater.

Yesterday I had the Dr. Oz recommended Shake (with a ViSalus twist) and a cucumber/lime Shake. I was surprised that I liked the Dr. Oz shake. It was not my favourite by any stretch of the imagination, but it was a lot better than I imagined. I’d have it again. The cucumber/lime was actually quite good. I thought it’d be “OK”; it was better than “OK”. It was very refreshing and light. It would make a great summer drink or one when you are in the mood to drink something fresh and cool.

I've included pictures of the shakes…even though the cucumber one doesn't look all that impressive.

Dr. Oz Shake
1/2 c orange juice
1/2 banana
2 scoops Vi Shake
1 c frozen raspberries
1 c strawberry yogurt
3 baby carrots
5 leaves of fresh spinach
1/2 tsp flax oil
2 Tbsp oatmeal

Cucumber/Lime Shake
8 oz almond milk
1 c cucumber
2 scoops Vi Shake
Juice from 1 lime
Ice

Check out this breaking news....

WOW!! Almost two months has passed since I updated my blog. That’s really sad, I must say. Although I have been pre-occupied with dealing with my cancer nonsense, it is not a valid excuse for slacking on my blog. In fact, I have thought about my blog quite often. Finally, I decided to act upon updating it.

15 Days!!! 15 days left of this 90 Day Challenge!! I already updated a “before” video on Facebook. That was a hard thing to do. It took every ounce of courage that I had. I haven’t figured out how to upload a video from my phone onto my blog yet, but my Facebook page is “open” to the public if you want to have a peek. www.facebook.com/visalus2

I definitely have improved…which also means I met my Challenge Goal. However, I am super excited that I have only 15 days left because I am so anxious to post and work towards my next goal!!!
